Honor, Courage, Commitment

The HCC in CrossFit HCC stands for HonorCourageCommitment. These are the Core Values of the U.S. Marine Corps that define how every Marine thinks, acts, and fights.

Honor guides Marines to exemplify the ultimate in ethical and moral behavior. Courage is the mental, moral, and physical strength ingrained in Marines. Commitment is the spirit of determination and dedication found in Marines.

CrossFit HCC is owned by Matt Mello, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years on active duty as a Rifleman in the Infantry Division with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines out of Camp Lejune, NC. He brings those core values to CrossFit HCC, through his passion for physical fitness.

Our goal is to help the athletes at CrossFit HCC use these core values throughout their CrossFit journey. To have the HONOR to stay committed and motivated to always give their best effort, to complete every rep, in every workout and never give up. To find the COURAGE to exceed their fears when pushing past different struggles in their work outs, and to have the COMMITMENT to make fitness part of a healthy lifestyle and set goals for achievement.

Last but not least, Marines put honor, courage, commitment to the test with Ductus Exemplo, which is Latin for “Lead by Example.” Coach Matt does just that. Every day he sacrifices his own personal gains and in his personal life to support all his athletes 100%. He takes pride in being the best coach he can be to help his athletes reach their goals.

Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader. They set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role, always about the goal.
